Hello. In this, my first blog, I want to set the tone for what I hope will be a blessing to all who visit my site. I have a heavy burden to share the love of Christ with the world. Sometimes it is hard for people to listen about God and His plan of salvation when they are surrounded by their friends. Even though their heart is being touched, it would be un-cool to surrender all and open their hearts to the Lord. They have to put on an act.
Well, the blessing that is the internet has changed all that. I am not here asking for your money, which is what, sadly to say, so many of the "preachers" on TV are doing. No, I am simply asking you to examine your condition. God is Holy and just. He wants you to be with Him for eternity. However, since He is Holy, nothing un-holy can enter His presence. The only way for us to be with Him was to keep His Commandments. You may think that you are a good person. And by the standards of man, you may be right. But let me ask you, have you ever lied? Have you ever used God's name in vain? Have you ever committed adultery (Jesus said to look upon someone with lust was committing adultery in your heart)? Jesus said that if you have broken any one of the Ten Commandments you have broken them all.
Jesus said there was another way to get to Heaven. He said, "Be perfect, as your Father in Heaven is perfect". Well, are you perfect? Are you without sin? Of course not! But God in His ultimate love for us gave us a way out. He sent His one and only Son to take our place. He lived the perfect life that we could not live. He took our place on the cross and shed His blood as a ransom for our sins.
The gift of salvation is so incredible! We can do nothing to earn it. All we have to do is to accept what Christ has already done for us. If we humble ourselves and confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us.
However, that does not mean that we continue to live as we have. When we are truly repentant, the Holy Spirit changes us. We no longer desire the things we used live for. We make Christ Lord of our lives. He directs our paths. Does this mean that we no longer sin? No, of course not. But we do not dive into sin. We fall into sin. Our spirit is grieved and we cry out to our Lord for forgiveness when we do fall.
There is much more to be said. I have come to realize that this life is short. There is not one person that has a promise of tomorrow. When death comes knocking at your door will you be ready?
Sam Kinison, a stand-up comedian in the 1980's, made a career out of bashing Christians and blaspheming God. You see, Mr. Kinison was a minister before he started his career in comedy. Sadly, this minister was never a Christian. Whenever he was asked if he feared God because of what he was saying in his comedy act, he would tell them that he would accept Jesus right before he died, just in case. Well, Mr. Kinison was in an automobile accident that killed him. It was said that right before he died, he was crying and saying that he did not want to die. He was not ready. Sadly for Mr. Kinison, it was too late. His appointment with death was kept. He entered into a Christ-less eternity.
I will have much more to say about this in future posts. You see, I have performed in Comedy Clubs. There is a time when the laughter stops. Forever.
God Bless!
